Intelligent Cities is an initiative of the National Building Museum engaging thought leaders, government officials, and the public to think about how to use data to make cities more sustainable, healthful, and efficient. For the past six months, the Museum has been leading an exploration of the intersection of information technology and urban design. Through the creation of original infographics, on-line public polling, video interviews, and essays, the Museum has been investigating where we are, where we want to be, and how to get there. This work culminates in the June 6 forum where practitioners, policymakers, and participants engage in a series of interactive discussions on how technology is—or should be—affecting design, planning, and quality of life. The day-long forum begins with a keynote conversation at 8:05am Eastern Time and features representatives from the White House, technological innovators, and philanthropic leaders discussing our national priorities for creating today’s intelligent cities. Held in the Great Hall of the National Building Museum’s historic home in Washington, D.C., this event will besimultaneously broadcast on the web through www.nbm.org.
