SUNY Oswego Townhouse “Village” Earns LEED Gold Rating
News

On January 19, the U.S. Green Building Council announced that the SUNY Oswego The Village townhouses were approved for a LEED Gold rating under its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Homes program. The Village opened its doors to students at the beginning of the Fall 2010 semester and is home to 350 juniors and seniors at SUNY Oswego. Ashley McGraw Architects with Burt Hill were the design consultants for The Village.

Key features of the townhouses include a tightly sealed, insulated envelope to make the buildings more energy efficient, a storm water management system and the use of environmentally preferred products during construction. Prior to students moving in, they attended two educational sessions informing them of The Village’s sustainability features and showing them ways to help maintain their community’s energy efficiency.
