Green Gadget Spotlight: Eco-friendly street signs from e-waste
News

An important study released on February 22nd by the United Nations reports that the growing amount of e-waste could increase by as much as 500% over the coming decade!

Image Microsystems is facing this challenge head-on.

This Austin, Texas company provides innovative solutions to the environmental issues created by consumer electronics waste. Through their e-waste reclamation, recycling and disposal efforts, they recently introduced their newest product: traffic safety and road signs made from recycled electronics components.

Made from 100 percent post consumer recycled e-waste, this green signage provides a closed loop in the manufacturing process. These standard looking but unique signs can be recycled and/or re-manufactured at their end-of-life, eliminating their adding to already burgeoning landfills. Not only is this good for the environment, it’s also cost effective for the towns and municipalities that invest in them.

With innovations like this, and the millions of pounds of e-waste that Image Microsystems has diverted from our landfills, the e-waste problem could be in danger of being solved.
