Jean Carroon,

Goody Clancy

Jean Carroon, FAIA, LEED® AP, is a Principal in Goody Clancy's highly regarded preservation practice, based in Boston. She has earned national recognition for her expertise in applying sustainable-design technology to historic buildings, including more than a dozen National Historic Landmarks. She has directed the adaptive reuse and preservation of signature buildings in a broad range of sectors, including educational, civic and cultural projects for clients such as Harvard University and the National Park Service. She is currently working on the renovation of more than 45 historic structures on the St. Elizabeth’s West Campus in Washington, which will become the home of the Department of Homeland Security. Ms. Carroon is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation Sustainability Coalition and the Advisory Group of the AIA Historic Resources Committee. She helped draft the Pocantico Proclamation on Sustainability and Historic Preservation.

Lucas Johnson

Lucas Johnson holds a Master of Environmental Science and Management with a focus in Eco-Entrepreneurship from the Donald Bren School of the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). His past experience includes various entrepreneurial activities such as co-founding, and serving as the first President, of the Santa Barbara Emerging Green Builders Chapter. Lucas has also pursued business development beyond the context of academia by founding the non-profit BeyondFire Institute (www.beyondfireinstitute.org) and the for-profit Clean Tech Commercialization (www.beyondfirectc.com). His entrepreneurial passion is focused on making zero-net energy building cost-effective. To further ground his passion, he has worked as an independent consultant for various venture capital firms, successful start-ups, and consulting groups such as Low Carbon Accelerator, Accenture, and Mezzetti and Associates.

Jennifer Chin,
National Director,
EPAct §179D at SourceCorp

Jennifer Chin is the National Director, §179D Consulting for SourceCorp Professional Services. Well known in the industry as one of the leading authorities on §179D, Jen works with architects throughout the United States to understand the deduction and evaluate specific project’s energy efficiencies. She works with each firm’s financial group or CPA to determine how the deduction will affect a tax return, and she assists firms in approaching their government clients about allocating the deduction.

In addition to working one-on-one with architecture firms, Jennifer speaks at CPA Society events, sustainability conferences and manufacturing conferences. She also hosts continuing education through seminars, webinars and live blogs.

Prior to joining SourceCorp, Jennifer was the accountant channel executive for ADP, South Central division. In that position, she provided guidance to a staff of more than 250. In addition, she developed marketing strategies for several of ADP’s product lines specifically created for the accounting community.

Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California.

Hallie M. Bowie,
Owner,
New Leaf Home Design

Hallie Bowie is owner of New Leaf Home Design, an Akron, Ohio architectural firm focused on the design of residential renovation and addition projects.  Hallie works with homeowners to find solutions to make their current homes fit their needs: working with existing square footage, responding to the home’s site and orientation, improving energy efficiency throughout the house, and recommending sustainable construction methods and materials.

Hallie is a registered architect and a Certified Green Professional through both the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and the National Association of Home Builders.  She was a member of the design team for “Habitat Grows Green,” an affordable home designed to meet Gold certification through both LEED and the National Green Building Standard.  She has served on the Summit County Building Department Green Committee, and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the HBA of Portage and Summit Counties.
