I can't wait to see the advancement of energy storage, and how that ties into the smart grid. We will need an advanced, intelligent network to carry renewable energy from its collection points to consumption sites. The trouble so far is with legislation concerning transmission lines and how to properly address the needs of several states in the process.

John,
I would love to learn more about storing solar energy in the form of phase change material. What does the process entail?

I am always looking for the most cost-effective way in which to keep people warm. Since that is where the majority of our energy costs go. I live in Western Washington. We are blessed with great beauty and an abundance of natural resources. But we have the worst solar insolation in the continental US, the lowest energy costs and a temperate climate that does not require a tremendous amount of energy in either the heating or cooling season compared to the rest of the country. So my quest for Green building is to find or create products that are cost-effective in my unique region. If I can make cost-effective renewable energy work here it will work very well in any other northern or mid parallel States. I currently represent and promote ATAS's transpired solar collector applications and the uniquely designed Building Performance Equipment, Energy Recovery Ventilator. The last piece of what I believe I need to make a quality trio of products is solar storage, in the form of Phase Change Material. I am encouraged with the latest technologies that use paraffin as the medium most because it will not loose its ability to go back in forth in the change process. But thus far I have not found a manufacturer that can bring a cost-effective product to market. I don't do social networking very well. So I'm not sure where this kind of info should go. Your advise would be appreciated.

Hi John, warm is good and the world is warming up to the idea of building with Structural Insulating Poly Styrene Foam. You can have a Zero Energy, Super Insulated Structure that is Mold resistant and Rot proof. there is a comprgensive list of companies at http://StyroHomeNews.blogspot.com that build with EPS Foam. I will post more here, right now my page is almost blank, but I will get on it asap.
